About

African Scholarship Online is a multi-publisher portal to enable access to peer-reviewed publications by African university presses and specialist scholarly publishers.

The primary aim of African Scholarship Online is to increase the discoverability of peer-reviewed research titles published in Africa. In so doing African publishers are working to provide

library and aggregator compliant data. ONIX feeds are available on request. UKMARC and MARC21 records are available to download from this site.

These important skills will increase the independance of African publishers, and will raise the profile of our content and authors. We participate in

programmes run by Crossref and ORCiDto increase the integration with the broader academic community. We have  strong working relationships with a range of data specialist

organisations including Editeur, BDS and BooksONIX..

African Scholarship Online is managed by Wits University Press, and was established through a grant and support from the National Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences.
